Step 3 · Which keyboard?

SoundFont .sf2 DAW, LabPiano and keyboards that read SF2 Full: every zone and layer (300 MB or more on XL pianos). Korg · Yamaha .sf2 beta Korg Pa, Kronos/Nautilus, Yamaha Genos/PSR-SX Compact SF2: 4 layers and notes up to 20 s, inside those keyboards’ import limits. Roland .svz beta Fantom 6/7/8, Fantom-0, Fantom EX Multisample with 4 layers (the tone maximum) and 10 s notes. On the Fantom: import from a USB drive. Yamaha .X0W beta Motif XS/XF, MOXF, Montage, MODX Waveform with up to 128 keybanks and 10 s notes. Montage/MODX load the .X0W. Roland .zip beta XPS-10 / XPS-10X WAV pack (1 layer, ~16 notes, 6 s). Each WAV becomes a tone; build the split on the keyboard.

Download a piano (.npno) or a sample (.nsmp4) on Nord’s site.
Upload the downloaded file in the converter on this page.
Download the .sf2 and open it in the DAW or a SoundFont player. XL pianos go past 300 MB.
